Design Foundation Regular Program for aged 6.5-18
Learn to be an innovative changemaker with design!
A cross-curricular design program integrating Young Architects Program and Design Basics modules’
Aim to:
• Introduce design thinking, elements, principles and problem-solving to children who are passionate with 3D creation
• Develop technical skills such as idea sketching, visualization, model-making, and presentation
• Lay a solid foundation for future pursuits in design and architecture disciplines
The Design Foundation Program nurtures children and youth to become innovative change-makers through playful and purposeful creativity. Spanning ages 6.5 to 18, it builds on the foundation of our former KiDesign program and integrates the Young Architects program into a cross-curricular design program.
Students learn design thinking, elements, principles, and problem-solving while making connections across design, architecture, science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Project themes, inspired by nature, traditions, and human as well as environmental needs, encourage meaningful responses to real-world challenges.
Through sketching, visualization, simple drafting, model-making, and presentation, students strengthen technical skills and design confidence. They are introduced to the innovative styles of influential designers, learning to balance form, function, aesthetics, and emotion in their creations.
This program lays a strong foundation for future pursuits in design and architecture while cultivating imagination, intention, and the joy of creative exploration.
